Sunriders Unite to Raise Funds for Victims of Hurricane Harvey
Global News
To raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey, Sunrider International organized a fundraising campaign led by its owners, Drs. Tei-Fu & Oi-Lin Chen. The company matched donations from Sunrider staff and IBOs in the USA and Canada, and the combined total came to $42,200.
Sweeping ashore as a Category 4 storm, Hurricane Harvey was an extremely destructive Atlantic hurricane that became the first major (Category 3 or stronger) hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005. In a four-day period in August 2017, many areas received more than 40 inches (1,000 mm) of rain as the system meandered over eastern Texas and adjacent waters, causing catastrophic flooding. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands of homes, displaced more than 30,000 people, and prompted more than 17,000 rescues.
Sunrider has a proud tradition of responding to disasters by raising money and donating in-kind support, often working with the Red Cross and other relief organizations. Sunrider-led fundraising campaigns have provided aid for victims of the Nepal Earthquake, Typhoon Haiyan, Hurricane Sandy, the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and the Haiti Earthquake.
