The 40th annual International Children Drawing Contest cum Photography Competition, organized by the Junior Chamber International Harbour Hong Kong (JCI Harbour) and mainly sponsored by Sunrider Hong Kong, was held on April 14, 2019, in Kowloon Park, one of the top attractions to visit for locals and tourists in Hong Kong. The event received wide media coverage, including a feature story reported by Ming Pao Daily.

Angela Lau, Sunrider Hong Kong Country Manager, was invited to officiate the opening ceremony together with the other honorable guests that comprise personalities from various sectors of the community, including Chairpersons of JCI and JCI Harbour, and the Chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

More than 8,000 children and parents, including students in kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools participated in the contest. The participants, accompanied by their family members, were given a great opportunity to unleash their artistic talents, and meanwhile enjoyed a great family bonding time.

Over 5,000 creative works inspired by this year’s theme of “One World, Million Flavors” were featured, including illustrations capturing various gourmet foods and treats such as dim sum, fish balls, and egg tarts.Over 5,000 creative works inspired by this year’s theme of “One World, Million Flavors” were featured, including illustrations capturing various gourmet foods and treats such as dim sum, fish balls, and egg tarts.

The contest, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, has helped raise public awareness about a number of social issues, including marine protection, racial harmony, and caring about communality. Approximately 320,000 children have benefited directly from participating in the contest over the years. The annual contest provides a platform to promote young children’s creativity and artistic talents, and it helps inspire young people to cultivate sustainable positive change.

Visually captivating contest posters were displayed in 3,000 schools, Legislative Councilor’s offices, 18 District Offices, 30 Sun Hung Kei Group Estates, and in more than 500 restaurants and cafes. Additionally, 25 street banners were displayed in 18 districts of Hong Kong. The impact was further amplified by bus and Mass Transit Railway (MTR) advertisements on main routes and stations in business and tourist areas.

JCI Harbour, inaugurated in 1976, is affiliated with a worldwide leadership development organization—The Junior Chamber International (JCI). JCI has a global membership of over 200,000, representing a network of highly motivated young entrepreneurs and executives from a wide range of trades and businesses. The purpose of JCI is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change, which is aligned with Sunrider’s mission and vision. Sunrider is honored to be part of such a meaningful event.
