Sunrider Good Works in Action: Wonber Maternal Health Center Delivers Its First Two Babies
Global News
The Wonber Maternal Health Center, which opened its doors on May 2, 2022, shared the good news that two babies were delivered in its care facility within a week of its official opening. The births represent the first babies to be born in the health center, and the medical staff are happy to report the newborns and their mothers are in good health.
The construction of the Wonber Maternal Health Center was made possible when Sunrider donated more than half the price of each ticket purchased for their 2021 Grand Convention to three organizations, one of which was Engage Now Africa, an international nonprofit organization that partners with local government agencies and federal government agencies to provide aid, care, and infrastructure to those who need it most.
The now operational health center will serve and support an estimated 30,000 women and children in the local and surrounding areas. The Wonber Maternal Health Center is a much-needed facility in this remote area in Ethiopia, because until now, women didn’t have a medical center to deliver their babies or receive prenatal and postnatal care.
“Hearing this news is so heartwarming. When my father and mother started Sunrider 40 years ago, this is exactly the kind of project they wanted to support, as it provides vital services and care to vulnerable women, children, and families,” said Sunny Beutler, CEO of Sunrider International.
