Dr. Reuben Chen’s Top Picks for Winter Produce Featured in Online Magazines
Global News
Reuben Chen, MD, Chief Medical Advisor of Sunrider International, provided his expert commentary for a healthy-living article that appeared recently in two popular digital publications, Outside magazine and Clean Living.
Dr. Reuben Chen’s nutritional insights are in a feature article titled “Feel Like Trash This Holiday Season? Add These Nutrient-Dense Winter Foods to your Meals ASAP.” The article delves into the challenge of eating healthy during the holidays and details how “it’s easier than you think to add nutritious foods into your diet this season.”
A board-certified medical doctor and nutrition expert, Dr. Reuben Chen explains how winter-harvested fruits and vegetables, including “truly the best three B’s”: broccoli, beets, and Brussels sprouts, are packed with vitamins and phytonutrients (natural compounds produced by plants):
“Not only do these vegetables taste great, but they're loaded with vitamins A, B9, C, and K as well as potassium, magnesium and zinc. They are also a rich source of antioxidants in the form of betacyanins, phenolics, lutein, zeaxanthin, and alpha lipoic acid.”
He also offers tips on what to look out for when shopping for winter produce, cautioning that “sneaky ingredients and additives can be squeezed into canned produce and to be careful when shopping.”
