The article explores how magnesium supports both post-workout recovery and quality sleep. Dr. Chen emphasizes magnesium’s role in relaxing muscles and calming the nervous system, explaining: “Magnesium also helps ease soreness, while keeping the nervous system calm and balanced, allowing your body to recover faster.” 

Dr. Chen also highlights the benefits of magnesium glycinate, which he calls “one of the best forms because it’s a more gentle form and highly bioavailable, making it effective for easing muscle tension and reducing cramping.” He notes that this form also supports sleep by helping regulate melatonin and promoting relaxation. 

The feature further examines oral versus topical magnesium, with Dr. Chen noting that while topical products may feel effective for targeted relief, oral forms are generally more reliable for systemic benefits.  

He also underscores the importance of a balanced diet for maintaining magnesium levels, with foods like leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains providing a natural source of the mineral.
